Southern Cross Constellation Necklace

4 items left

The Southern Cross constellation, or "Crux" as it is formally known, was visible to the ancient Greeks. Throughout the centuries it has been used as a navigational aid and has played an important symbolic role in many cultures.

The pendant is small-batch cast from pewter and has been hand hammered and weathered for an antique look. The stars are accurately placed, based on star maps, and are cut all the way through the pendant, down to the smallest magnitude we could manage. The back features the right ascension and declination, reversed to match the stars. It also marks the boundary of the Coalsack Nebula, the most prominent dark nebula in the night sky. The pendant measures 3cm in diameter and comes on your choice of a steel snake chain and an adjustable black leather cord.

Perfect for:

  • Star gazers, astronomers, telescope lovers
  • Mythologists, authors, poets
  • Anyone navigating through the perilous waters of life
